Empowering Young Women Through Skills Training
By Amie Lompri Koroma – Executive Director At White Ribbon Alliance Sierra Leone (WRA-SL), we believe that investing in young women is a direct investment in the future of our nation. Our commitment to equipping girls with the skills and confidence they need to thrive is a central part of our mission to promote safe motherhood, strengthen communities, and improve health outcomes. Recently, WRA-SL supported two young women from underprivileged communities by helping them acquire hands-on skills in cake-baking. Through structured training and close mentorship, these girls successfully completed a two-month certificate program. This training not only boosted their self-confidence but also opened new doors to financial independence and personal growth.
Our Approach
Our empowerment model is holistic and community-driven: We identify vulnerable girls through community networks and school partnerships. We collaborate with local experts to offer practical, hands-on training. We provide ongoing mentorship and support to ensure long-term success. We monitor and evaluate outcomes to continuously improve our programs.
